For me, living plant based doesn’t only mean that I don’t eat animals and their secretions. I am vegan through and through which means that I had to change a couple things in my lifestyle when I decided to make the transition. I don’t buy any leather, fur or feathers. I also pay careful attention to all household products as well as beauty products that I use and make sure they are ‘cruelty free’. Look out for the international ‘leaping bunny’ label that guarantees that there was no animal testing involved in the production of the product.
The reason why I do this is because I believe in a compassionate life and I don’t want to hurt animals in any way. I don’t find it rational, especially in a world where we don’t need any animal products to be happy and content.
So I am always on the look for new cruelty free products and discovered this amazing company called La Ritzy. They are actually based in Canada and create curated monthly beauty boxes with a special selection of creams, rubs, nail polishes etc. All guaranteed not tested on animals. The founder Emily feels strongly about spreading the word and making it clear that there are tons of wonderful brands out there that create non harmful products. These products are also better for you because they don’t contain any bad chemicals that could harm your health.
Now let’s unpack my September La Ritzy box:
- Seaweed Mask: The Praerie Botanical Beauty Seaweed mask is my absolute favorite. You just need to apply a little bit of it over your face with some water. It has wonderful exfoliant properties and leaves your skin soft and light.
- Nail Polish: Trust Fund Beauty makes wonderful nail polishes and I had one of them in my box. It’s a light pink, perfect for some Fall color. What I love about it too is that it’s certified ‘non toxic’ and ‘5Free’ (meaning no toluene, formaldehyde, lead, nickel and phthalates) Crazy that these things are all in conventional nail polishes no?
- Makeup Remover: I also found ‘Clean Slate’, a gentle and nourishing makeup remover in my box. I often struggle with makeup removers being too harsh (and drying out my skin!) or not harsh enough (leaving half of the makeup on my face). This product strikes the perfect balance and I highly recommend it!
- Highlight Powder: I love that there was also a makeup item in the La Ritzy box. This powder is really soft and can be worn every day. It also contains cocoa powder and cinnamon which I find amazing (as I love to eat these as well ;))
Overall a great mix of high quality and cruelty free products that I loved using. Can’t wait for the next box 😉
